Management Committee

The management committee consists of a group of "willing" volunteers who have the interests of the unit at heart. Currently the chairman is Stan Stansbury, the Vice Chair is Richard Jones, a parent of former members, and the secretary is Betty Stansbury. The rest of the committee are parents and adult friends of the unit, who have become attached either by long term association or by being asked to help. We are always happy to accept offers of help either on or off the committee, as we do some regular fundraising and are hoping to swell the coffers with new ideas.

By raising funds for the unit we are allowing members to fully participate in any or all of the activitie available to them. The unit leaders have many skills with which they are able to provide a great range of challenges and activities for the unit, rather than having to spend the time fundraising.

Some of the regular fundraising events include:

  • The annual jumble sale in Great Missenden, every January.
  • The Yetties (a popular radio 2 folk and country group) in Concert, in November (exclusive for Misbourne)
  • We also share in work and profits of the annual prestwood firework event, which naturally is at the beginning of November each year.

These funds are required for the running costs of the Friday night meeting places, of the rental of the Great Missenden headquarters (20% of the running costs and the insurances). The unit also owns a 16 seater minibus which, of course, costs money - tax, insurance, etc. Ultimately we also need to find a new home for Friday nights to replace the Wendover base, which we lost in 2004.

The committee usually meet once a quarter unless it is neccessary to call one for a special purpose, so the commitment is not too heavy! Why not contact us if you think you can help in any way - we would love to talk to you.
